Summary
Barkemp Construction were instructed to improve the junction near to a major housing development. This junction is on a main road going towards the South Coast and the works are essential to reduce congestion in the area. Extensive consultation was undertaken with local stakeholders including, residents, Highways England, emergency services and the council. A new filter lane is being constructed with associated retaining walls, resurfacing and traffic management systems. Significant care has been made to ensure the design works well for the residents and the construction fits in with the local architecture, this has involved using materials which blend into the surroundings such using flint in the retaining wall.
The work is due to finish mid Autumn 2021
