Rob Smith

I started with Barkemp Construction as a Plant Engineer in 2015. I have a City & Guilds Qualification – Level 1 & 2 in Diesel & Petrol Engines, as well as many other qualifications.

Initially I worked on heavy machinery in the paper mills which has lead me to now covering all Plant & Servicing breakdowns on our various sites. When I’m not out on site, I carry out small tool repairs in the workshop, based at head office.

I have worked on heavy plant throughout my working career and enjoy all aspects of the job and the variety that it brings.

On a yearly basis, I teach abrasive tool training with our Sub-contractors on site, as well as carry out PAT-testing every 3 months.

Outside work I enjoy Scuba diving, fishing and socializing.
